Arizona - Tempe Montessori School
In 1978 the Tempe Montessori School was opened with the goal of providing the very best Montessori Education for young children following the standards set by the Association Montessori Internationale. This goal has been achieved under the guidance of the Founder, Irma Letson. TMS is privately owned by the Letson family and is now seeking a new Head of School to take over the continuing professional development of this school as Mrs. Letson retires. Our Staff and student body is culturally diverse, which reflects the international Montessori community as well as the Arizona State University population of Tempe. Our school owns the 1.2 acres and 5 buildings which house the administration and seven well equipped classrooms serving Toddlers, Primary, and Elementary students. It is licensed for 160 children by the AZ Dept. of Health Services and at present serves 80 children. This leaves room for growth without the need for additional building and development. The setting is in a rural residential neighborhood nestled in the tri-city suburban community of metropolitan Phoenix, just minutes from Arizona State University and all of the cultural opportunities this represents. The Southwestern Desert provides an ideal climate within a short travel distance to skiing in the mountains of northern Arizona and basking on the beaches of northern Mexico or southern California. The campus has a well equipped playground, with large lawns, gardens, fish pond, bunnies, and barn yards which house sheep, a goat, and a llama family. Our search is for an experienced Montessorian who has proven expertise in managing a total Montessori school, including the guidance of AMI teachers, support staff, parents, and students. Our goal now is to provide services to children in our community by returning to the former enrollment of 150 students while maintaining the historically high quality of Montessori education. This is an opportunity for a new Head of School to join an established school which is now at a very manageable size, and to grow in familiarity with the community as the school grows again to the optimal size. Our Head will have a Bachelors degree and an AMI diploma on one or several levels, as well as successful teaching and administrative experience. Skills in personal relations with staff, parents and students are essential as are effective and inspirational communication abilities. Educating parents and the community in the Montessori Method is an essential component of this position as well as managing the day-to-day operations of the school and delegating responsibility to staff and teachers. If you know a qualified candidate, please forward this information to him or her. If you are interested in an opportunity to lead a quality Montessori School, send your resume and contact information to: Irma Letson, Tempe Montessori School P.O. Box 40755, Mesa, AZ 85274 or email your resume and contact information to iletson@cox.net
