House Parent
Hershey Montessori’s Adolescent Community seeks a House Parent or House Parent Couple to join our farm school staff starting August 12, 2013. We seek candidates who have AMI training or are willing to avail of our sponsorship for the AMI Orientation to Adolescence course on campus this summer.
This is primarily a residential career position that includes room and board. Duty hours are primarily evening and a rotation of week-end hours. Commitment to and experience in the developmental issues of adolescents, a collaborative disposition, as well as a high level of personal maturity and moral grounding are fundamental for this job. The house parents are considered a critical part of the Montessori Faculty and participate in most daily and all weekly staff meetings. The House Parent joins three other residential staff and a rotation of faculty to serve as a guide and caregiver for 25 boarding adolescents as they learn and grow into independence in daily living skills and community-building processes. The house parents oversee the smooth running of the household, the organization of daily and weekly cooking, cleaning, house maintenance, and farm tasks while guiding students in side-by-side work and observing the general well-being of the community dynamic. Our Huntsburg campus is one hour east of Cleveland’s culturally rich University Circle and half an hour south of Lake Erie.
